pretty awesome

so i got a pretty legit GPS navigation device from my dad for christmas... Its pretty cool, i used it on the way home from san luis obispo tonight and i made it home safely. Although i found that it wants you to long roundabout ways, but it still gets you where you need to be.

I was installing software into my computer for it and this message popped up. I thought it was pretty awesome. Good stuff.

are you from the USA or Canada?

uhhhmmm... yes.

Dear Readers,

If you have not already been informed, I am going to Russia this summer with ISP for CBU. Thanks!

my ankle cont....

its purple!!!

i took my wrap off this morning to show my friend and found out that the lower part of mt ankle is now purple... it wasn't the last time i checked. And now the out side part of my foot about 2 inches down from my pinky toe its starting to hurt...oh and notice that its kinda hard to find the ball of my ankle.... thats because it swollen enough to where it looks like i dont have one...hmm maybe i never did... ive never really checked to see if i did... but im somewhat normal... so i probably did have one at one point. Either way, my ankle is still swollen. Maybe i should go have it looked at... But chances are they are just gonna tell me "yeah you did something bad, keep it wrapped and stop whining" which is what im already trying to do. So maybe ill just keep doing that till it heals...

my ankle

so today i got my first legit injury from rock climbing. A rolled ankle. I was jumping down from a hold i was on and landed in the side of a crash pad which was about 6 inches from another pad and about 1 foot thick. So my foot landed first rolled to the side and fell inbetween the two pads. It hurt.... it still hurts. i took some expired motrin which helped a bit... but not a whole lot. So my ankle is nice and swollen. hopefully it heals soon.
Oh and to make things better, i just got a cold from being outside in the cold... so my nose is all stuffed up all the time... im basically fallin apart as of yesterday.

on a good note though I bought The Dark Night on dvd... and now im watching it... amazing movie.

my first ticket!

So a few days ago I was in downtown riverside and thought "hey, I dont feel like searching around everywhere for a parking spot" so I found a random dirt lot right next to the free way that I was able to park in. We parked, walked around downtown, then at the end of the night... came back to my car. I had two ways of exiting the lot. Option number one which resulted in and extra turn at a light that I would have to make. Or option number two which resulted me in pulling out in the direction that i needed to go. I decided to go for option number two... because.. it seemed like a good idea.

So right as I pull out a notice a cop in a lane close to me. i thought "oh yeah! im gonna get him alright!" so i swerve hard to my right and owned the cop by cutting him off. My night was accomplished.

thats actually not how it went down... it makes for a better story though
here is the real story.

I go with option 2 thinking i have two lanes going one direction, a middle dead lane, and two more lanes on hte opposite side going the different direction. So I pull out hoping to get into the middle lane so I can merge onto the lane that i need to be in when i notice that there is no middle lane... so I can either drive on the wrong side of the road, or cut the car behind me off.
Since head on collisions aren't really on my fun list, i decided to just try to get ahead of the car in the first lane that is behind me and as i look over and turn, i notice its a cop car. And about a second later, he has his lights on.

Its my first time gettin pulled over and the curb on the sidewalk was painted red so I wasn't sure if I could pull over there or not... so i drove at about 5mph with my blinker on wondering if I should pull over there when the cop says on his loud speaker "you can pull over now." So i did.

I had trouble finding my registration since I've never had to get it out before, so he found it for me... and had me sign that lovely little yellow paper... My first ticket.. I look happy in the picture.. but I'm sure when the ticket comes in the mail i wont be smiling. When I told my mom about it and she laughed with me and gave me a $3 off comedy driving school coupon.. good stuff

i looked up online how much "failure to give the right away" tickets are and they one site said as low as $35 then another site said from $140 to $300... so that's promising.. hopefully it wont be above $200....hopefully....

oh well... makes for a good story i suppose... and i can look back on this and laugh... I cut off a COP! I'm that crazy!!!! ha.. yeah...

reasons why i love my macbook...

Smackbook.
Thanks to frank for tellin me about this...
Its like spaces for mac only it includes awesome animations and it promotes abusing your computer! its a little bit unconventional and pointless.. but totally awesome...

MacSaber.
pretty much the computer makes lightsaber noises according to how you swing the mac around... its pretty awesome... again promoting the possibility of destroying your computer

Liquid Mac.
another pointless mac application... but its fun to show people. you tilt the computer from side to side and the "liquid" follows the angle of the computer...

Wall Saver.
Pretty cool... its takes your screen saver and makes it your background.. so you have an awesome moving background that is supposed to be a screen saver... pointless? i think not!

The Tunnel Game.
Hopefully you've played this game at least once in your life.. it coulda been on our old TI-89 calculator in high school... or on addictinggames.com on a boring afternoon... but this takes it to a whole 'nother level with macs acceleromoter. Yeah, I know this is already on the iphone and itouch.. but youre controlling it with the tilting of your computer... how cool is that?

Screen Invert.
This does what it says... inverts your screen. apparently its better for your eyes when you are in a dark room. but i think Mac just wanted it so you can play tricks on your friends... cuz that all I do with it... and you should too..

Slo Mo on the dock.
last but not least... the hotkey that makes your programs and documents minimize/maximize super slow from the dock. Reason why Mac did this?... because they can... and they wanted their users to show off to all the PC users... Its totally pointless... but then again totally cool!

and those are only some of the reasons why i love my macbook. there is so much more stuff... but I think that these are the top 7. If you dont have these for your mac.. get them.. if you dont have a mac.. get one so you can get these awesome apps. Sorry if ive made any PC users jealous... cuz convert like i did.

good stuff.

I think its pointless that whenever i go from my dashboard to my actual blog it counts it as a page view. Its lame because each time I got to my actual profile I see that the profile views number has gone up.. then i realize that its only gone up that one time because I checked my profile.. not someone else. It gets my hopes up. Thanks blogger for ruining my dreams.
just kidding

it is kinda pointless though....

amazing shirt?

So I haven't decided yet if this shirt is amazing... or incredibly lame like a Jesus action figure. I think its a pretty cool shirt... but maybe a little too funny. For example, I think a Jesus action figure is an incredibly lame idea and somewhat makes fun of Christianity. But this shirt pretty much gives a good example of whats going to happen. The band For Today is a Christian band so they mean no harm by it.... Nonetheless, i find this shirt to be amazing. so there.. i made up my mind.. its amazing... i dont know if i would ever wear it... but whoever though about it is a funny person. right on.

recently, i was able to steal a baby and have a photoshoot with it...because that what you do when you have a stolen baby.
babies are pretty cool...
maybe some day, ill have one of my own...

nashville yall (updated)

UPDATE

ok ok...
So i got back form nashville sunday night. I left wendsday morning and took a nice 3 1/2 hour flight directly to tenessee. I went for CBUs yearbook and newspaper. It was a confrence put on by the Baptist Press where we get critiqued on our personal work as well as the entire newspsper and yearbook. we won some awards, ate some food, and had some fun.
I learned something very crucial while i was there... i love califorina. I dont think i could happly live anywhere else. I dont really know why... other than the beach and mountains are close.. and the weather is nice. I think its because ive spent my whole live here.. and i know where everthing is. I know nashville is not the place for me. good city...amazing food. but to enough city for me.
If you are ever in nashvile DO NOT ever get sushi there. I got a spider roll which is was absolutley horrible. I woke up a few times that night with a crappy sushi taste in my mouth. I guess i shoulda expected it concidering we arent really close to the ocean.. oh well you live and you learn.

so i have pictures from my whole trip. these arent all of them.. jus the ones i felt like editing and puttin up online.... enjoy.

the tattoo i want the most.

This.

I have seen tattoos of this already that look REALLY bad. However, I found an artist though who I think would do an exceptional job. Only problem with this tattoo is.... i dont know where i want it. Well, I do.. only the spot is on my left forearm from my wrist to my elbow pit (i dont know what the technical term is for that part of my arm... oh well.. you get the idea.) And that part *gasp* cant be covered with a normal t-shirt. But then again my revelation tattoo technically cant either.. but only a little bit of that one shows with a t-shirt. I dont know where else i would want this tattoo. Right there seems like the best spot... and we all know that you cant get a good job if you have tattoos that cant be covered easily....right.
Then again, the way i see it is that I want my career to be one where i can have tattoos show. I figure that this sort of job would be a funner, more relaxed kinda job rather than one where everyone is strict and boring. But then again, a strict boring job would probably require a long sleeve shirt regardless of tattoos. So maybe its a possibility... oh well... we shall see.

best thing about the graphic design major

So i am pretty stoked about my major. Graphic Design.
One of the few majors where i wont have to write 10-a billion page papers for any sort of research or anything.
I just sit and play on photoshop all day. So its pretty much what i do at home anyway.
The one downside to it is that i have to take 2 art classes where i have to actually draw stuff out ,which i am horrible at... but nonetheless, its better than essays.

i think everyone should become a graphic design. Its a pretty legit major. Hopefully i will get some sort of career started once i graduate. We shall see.

I edited my self portrait today and i think i made my eyes a bit too creepy... but i kinda like the picture...

my encounter at jury duty.

so today i had jury duty.
i was meaning to go in a few days before to get out of it because of school, but i never had the chance to.
So i wake up today at like 7:25 and roll out of bed to get ready.
I get on the freeway around 7:43ish thinking that i would be good on time by 8:00
around 8:20 i get to the building after stop and go traffic on the free way and 2 full parking lots that i was directed to.

but this who blog doesn't really have much to do with jury duty itself.
ill start my story at lunch time.
If you havent read my previous blog you will find that ive been reading the book "crazylove" by francis chan.
After i eat i head back to the Court room and sit outside to read my book
as i do i overhear this guy talk about how he is blind in one eye and going blind in the other and how harvest gave him a Bible with large print.
A few minutes later i hear"hey man why are you wearing that bracelet?" ( i soon find that his name is dave)
he was referring to the bright green bracelet that i got from sandals on sunday for writing out what i struggle with on. (if you missed that service pod cast it... its amazing)
I told him "I got it from sandals church, its inside the California baptist university gym."
"is it a correctional church?" he asked
"No, just a regular one"
he then proceeds to tell me his story about how he spend 9 years in jail because of drugs and that he is a ordained minister. He has been out of prison for about 3 years and was trying to find a Christan halfway house because a normal one would cause for him to stumble and get back into his old ways.
I let him use my phone so he could call a guy who runs a chain or Christan halfway houses or something like that.
His passion for right now is to be a sort of minister for 3rd-5th graders- to warn them of the dangers of drums, violence and gangs. He said that those are the most vulnerable ages for experimentation with drugs and gangs and he wants to prevent kids from making the same mistake he did.

Dave has a real passion for God. He knows he screwed up his life bad and is quite humbled by it. He finally recognized his weakness and is trying to become stronger so that he can help people who where in the same spot as him.

it did cross my mind that he could be lying about everything just for the attention, but he seemed real about all that he said. He had a bible with him with paslm 35 bookmarked and said that he has been praying with that verse in mind constantly.

ever since i got jury duty i dreaded it. but now. im glad that i went (i still got out of actually being a juror) i was able to listen to daves story and give him my input for his story. There is a lot more that i could have written my story about my encounter with dave... but chances are no one will read all this anyway... but if you actually did, ask me in person.. and i will go into more detail ha. good stuff.

crazylove

I am reading a book.
really... i plan to read it from cover to cover
every word, every line, every paragraph, every page, every chapter... you get the idea
If you dont already know by the picture, its "crazy love" by francis chan.
This guy is probably one of the best speakers that Ive ever seen.
Because of that, i decided to actually sit down and read his book.
not something i would normally do...as im sure you know, im not really a book person.
But given all of the amazing things i have heard about this book, i figured i would give it a shot.
On another note, i actually have another book in line to read after this by a guy named jay bakker.
Im not sure how good it will be since i haven't heard much about it, but its written buy a pastor in new york who has full sleeves and has somewhat of an interesting story, so i looked on amazon.com and $6 later i have a used hardcover copy of the book.
Well technically i dont have it yet since the website decided to ship it dead snail mail style. (which is pretty slow) but nonetheless, it will come.
So we shall see how well my crappy silent reading skills will get me though this book
it should be fun.

rock on.

FoHo college briefing

so this weekend i shot 2 major things... college briefing and "the ranch" at horizons church in san diego with greg laurie and mercy me.

for the sake of unedited pictures all i will show in this post is college briefing, where it seems that the only good shots worth showing people who werent there are just silouete shots... easy to do and sometine they look good... maybe its just me being a lazy photographer.... or its me being the nice person who dosent want to flash people (with the flash on my camera) during worship services and be a major distraction.

what i did yesterday

intern work is awesome, i get to take picture, upload pictures to a website, play on hte internet all day, and clean out insanely messy warehouses! The last one is what i did yesterday. I have a before and after picture which you can see. And if you look, there is in fact a piano and 2 different buffet bars... but they where on wheels so it was ok. the pianos wheels where kinda rusted over, but it slid over the concrete good enough i suppose.. It actually only took like 3 hours to do, so it was pretty simple and not really stressful at all. It just had to get done. It was done by me and the other photography guy.. so we knocked it out pretty easily. good stuff

summer staff 08 photography

yesterday i took about 154 peoples pictures. All the summer staff and some fulltime staff. it took around 3 hours and after a while the sun came out higher and ruined the spot i was shooting at, so i had to move... which slowed things down a bit. not too bad though. I had a kinda lame place to shoot them all so its not like i could have had the perfect area to shoot. Then today i went though everyones pictures (which i took generally more than one of a person-one normal and one crazy shot) which turned out to be 305 pictures, and put all the names i had written down to faces. that took quite a while ha. then later today I edited the pictures that I will use for the yearbook adn what not which took quite a while as well. I am not quite satisfied with my editing quality so im contemplating re-doing everything, which means i have to so all the names to faces thing, which is rigorous and boring, and then edit all over again. I would say its a total of 3-4 hours of work altogether. I may or may not do it, maybe i will just stick with what i have, maybe not. either way, as of right now, i am super tired of editing and typing names ha. But nonetheless, i am having fun. All the real camper kids come the 15th so i suppose that will be when the real fun comes...

bathroom sign

so i was assigned the amazing task of creating a bathroom sign that urges people to not go number 2 in the bathroom that is on out office. It never pleasant when that happens, so i made the sign. There is a bathroom right outside the office that would work much better for this type of behavior (the going of number 2 that is) so we urge ourselves as well as others to put that other bathroom to use. Frankly just so they will destroy that bathroom and not the one inside out office. Good stuff. The image is really bootleg and sketchy lookin, but it gets the point across. I would have made something better but not having the proper fonts and such prevented me from doing so. But i am satisfied with the overall result from the work ha.

workspace

So this is my desk and computer for the summer. I did have an apple g4 powermac. Which was nice for the first day i had it, but then the next day the screen looked like it blew up with random colors and pixelization, then was covered with binary code and occasionaly said "crash" and system failure. Which if you dont know, are bad things to show up on a computer. But it was a nice computer for the day that I had it. So now i have this imac which is nice. I brought up my 24in screen for the g4... which i am no longer using, so we took my monitor to my jacobs cabin home and now use it for DVDs on someones laptop. So that works.... Oh and the other person is Clinton aka Brentwood who is the other intern/promotional photographer. And what you see on the screen is something I am working on for the video guys. Its a fake rap magazine cover for a video they are doing. The whole pice is for their made up label "Bling Records" and will be in one of their videos. Its not finished yet, but its a start. Good stuff.

home for the next few months

So basically, i live in Jacob's cabin. If you haven't seen lost... then you may not know what I am talking about. But since the only people who will read this will be corinne or rachel I dont have to worry about you guys not knowing what Jacob's cabin is. So i do have a picture, ill put up pictures of the inside soon enough. It looks sketchy, because it kind of is. Its the newest building forest home has bought i beleve, which leaves one other building that forest home does not own on the camp grounds. This is because the owner is stubborn and does not want to sell thier ghetto falling apart house. (ill put pictures up of that also) but until then, a picture of my home and another random picture of a bridge will have to do.
