focus...

Sometimes we can lose focus on what truly matters in our lives. Life comes at us fast... focusing on irrelevant things will get us no where in life. Focusing on what we were created to do is everything.

This was my first time shooting baseball.. but i think the pictures still turned out decent. Could be better but now i know what to do and what not to do next time i shoot baseball... good stuff

the banner photography

So i was sitting in the banner today talking about camera stuff and all that jazz when the yearbook editor asked some one to take pictures of one of her writers and some of the banner photography staff so I volunteered and this is what i got.. it was a fun shoot. Backdrops and lightboxes are where its at.. i suggest you all get these.. even if you dont do photography.. they are still nice to have even if you dont have a camera or do amateur photography of any sort.. well maybe not.. but still.. they are pretty handy.

All We Need 07

Being that i still haven't shot anything worth witting about recently, i figured i should write about one of my older pictures that actually has meaning. That is where this picture comes in... it has a title and everything... which is "All We Need 07" The 07 is basically totally irrelevant to the actual picture.. but i thought it sounded cool since i shot in 07.. so it is there. Now the meaning of the title... All we need. A microphone and a knife sheath(sp?). It seems that the solution to a lot of todays issues is violence and war. I think that there is one tool that is more powerful than violence and war. That is the power of words and action.(oh and by the way.. in saying this it does not make me a hippie of any sort..just wanted to be clear on that) Take Invisible Children for example. A group of college students go into Uganda with a video camera and a purpose... when they come back they are able to tell the world of the madness that is going on there. So basically that is the main theme of this picture.. solving our problems with words and actions. In doing this hopefully people will be able to positively show the world their point of view on a certain issue without causing more anger towards each other. Words can be just as powerful as anything else. People can hear what you have to say.. and either take it in and believe it... or completely ignore it... either way they still heard it so it is still in their minds consciously or subconsciously. It may be a slow start.. but i believe that words can change a lot. If we take this to heart and partake in telling people about our views on certain issues.. maybe.. just maybe.. we can get some sort of positive action and positive change. Who knows.. what could start with one persons heart and persistence could positively change people's lives.. then with their hearts and persistence they could do the same for other people... it could be a chain reaction. All because of one individuals positive action. Now that would be nice..

in closing i leave a quote that i think can somewhat pertain to the picture.. you may or may not agree with me..but it is one of my favorite quotes.. here it is...

Art does not solve problems but makes us aware of their existence. It opens our eyes to see and our brain to imagine.- Magdalena Abakanowicz

tennis

so my friend asked me to get some shot of him during his tennis match a few weeks ago. This was the first time ive ever shot tennis.. also it was the first time i had to shoot though a chain link fence. 70-200mm lenses make chain link disappear magically though..(i hear there is some kinda x-ray mechanism inside them to do so... just kidding) actually if you look close you can see faded and blurred out chain link. Hey its kinda like ispy! i spy faded and blurred out chain link.. ok that was a little dumb.. But the entire shoot was fun.. I found out that watching tennis can be hard on your neck if you are up close. Your eyes follow the ball.. which moves rapidly across the court.. back and forth.. back and forth.. gets kinda painful after a while.. but i toughed it out and got shots ha. Also watching the match made me really regret ever stopping tennis in high school. If i would have stayed with it im sure i would have been able to make the CBU team at least and had some fun with it. SO that is my message..dont give up at tennis just because a coach at your high school makes it not fun and ruins the entire game for you.. i dont think anyone who reads my blog has even played tennis competitively.. so my little helpful message might have been... well.. unhelpful... Oh well.. maybe you will come across a friend who is thinking about quitting tennis.. and if not.. find some one who is thinking about quitting tennis.. and help them to stick with it.That is this weeks goal. Awesome. I should probably start writting blogs that have some relevance eh? not today!

completley random picture day..

yes today is in fact the kinda-semi-annual-but-not-really-annual-at-all completely random picture day. These days come in fact.. randomly. They are brought up when i have nothing better to do than write on my photoblog about completely random picture days.. and also when i haven't shot anything in a while so all i have are irrelevant pictures i took at some point time in the past.. So for today we reflect back upon a picture which i took out of boredom at my house over winter break of a nice record player that my grandmother gave to my sister who then gave it to me. So yeah.. this record player has been around the block a few times... but it makes for a good picture.. so it all works... right? Ok cool... so here it is.. enjoy it.. and enjoy the fact that you just wasted about 2 minutes(if you are a slow reader who cant read) of your life reading a photoblog about absolutely nothing other than a completely random picture.. and its day for that matter... ok now that we are in good terms with each other on why you are here and still reading this, even though we may not actually be in good terms..but i dont care, here is the picture for serious.
