So a few days ago I was in downtown riverside and thought "hey, I dont feel like searching around everywhere for a parking spot" so I found a random dirt lot right next to the free way that I was able to park in. We parked, walked around downtown, then at the end of the night... came back to my car. I had two ways of exiting the lot. Option number one which resulted in and extra turn at a light that I would have to make. Or option number two which resulted me in pulling out in the direction that i needed to go. I decided to go for option number two... because.. it seemed like a good idea.
So right as I pull out a notice a cop in a lane close to me. i thought "oh yeah! im gonna get him alright!" so i swerve hard to my right and owned the cop by cutting him off. My night was accomplished.
thats actually not how it went down... it makes for a better story though
here is the real story.
I go with option 2 thinking i have two lanes going one direction, a middle dead lane, and two more lanes on hte opposite side going the different direction. So I pull out hoping to get into the middle lane so I can merge onto the lane that i need to be in when i notice that there is no middle lane... so I can either drive on the wrong side of the road, or cut the car behind me off.
Since head on collisions aren't really on my fun list, i decided to just try to get ahead of the car in the first lane that is behind me and as i look over and turn, i notice its a cop car. And about a second later, he has his lights on.
Its my first time gettin pulled over and the curb on the sidewalk was painted red so I wasn't sure if I could pull over there or not... so i drove at about 5mph with my blinker on wondering if I should pull over there when the cop says on his loud speaker "you can pull over now." So i did.
I had trouble finding my registration since I've never had to get it out before, so he found it for me... and had me sign that lovely little yellow paper... My first ticket.. I look happy in the picture.. but I'm sure when the ticket comes in the mail i wont be smiling. When I told my mom about it and she laughed with me and gave me a $3 off comedy driving school coupon.. good stuff
i looked up online how much "failure to give the right away" tickets are and they one site said as low as $35 then another site said from $140 to $300... so that's promising.. hopefully it wont be above $200....hopefully....
oh well... makes for a good story i suppose... and i can look back on this and laugh... I cut off a COP! I'm that crazy!!!! ha.. yeah...
